Sólet is a traditional Jewish dish that is also popular in Hungary. It is made with beans, potatoes, sausage, and smoked meats, cooked slowly over a long period of time. Sólet is a rich and flavorful dish, full of salty, smoky, and spicy flavors.
Ingredients:
500 g white beans
500 g potatoes
200 g sausage
200 g smoked pork shank
200 g smoked sausage
1 onion
2 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon paprika
salt
pepper
oil
Instructions:
Soak the beans in water overnight.
Wash and dice the potatoes.
Slice the sausage and smoked meats into rings.
Chop the onion and crush the garlic.
Heat oil in a pot and fry the onion.
Add the paprika and fry for another 1-2 minutes.
Add the beans, potatoes, sausage, smoked meats, garlic, salt, and pepper to the pot.
Pour in water and simmer, covered, for 3-4 hours, or until the beans are soft.
Tips:
Sólet can be seasoned to taste with bay leaf, cumin, marjoram, and other spices.
Sólet is best served fresh, but it is also delicious the next day.
